The Colorado School of Mines (Mines) is soliciting the submittal of proposals from Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) firms. Using an Integrated Project Delivery Method, through a Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC), Mines intends to construct a 20,000 GSF, single story Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) on the Mines Campus. The ECEC will have capacity for 156 children ages 6 weeks to 5 years, and serve parents in the Mines community. Included in the program are a total of 15 classrooms, administrative offices, a conference room, a commercial kitchen, and other support functions. A total of three Outdoor Play Areas, with playground surfacing and perimeter fencing are located to the East and South of the building. Sustainability goals and strategies will be discussed as part of the early collaborative design, with the project pursuing LEED v4 certification for New Construction at a minimum Gold Level, with Platinum if feasible. The facility must meet State licensure requirements to enable operation under the Colorado Department of Human Services, Office of Early Childhood. Portions of the program conform to more stringent National Association for the Education of Young People, (NAECY) guidelines. Mines has entered a contract with an operator to provide comprehensive early childhood education services. The ECEC will be located at 1900 Tangent Way, Golden, Colorado 80401.
