In 2017, the DCMHI implemented the Community Response Team (CRT) programs. This co-responder model pairs a licensed clinician and a specially trained law enforcement officer to respond to active 911 calls with a primary behavioral health component. The team is supported by specialized response from local fire jurisdictions, who provide field medical clearance and allow patients needing direct placement to psychiatric services, to avoid the emergency department. The Douglas County Community Response Team is a partnership between Douglas County, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Castle Rock Police Department, Parker Police Department and Lone Tree Police Department and requires collaboration between the clinical vendor and these multiple jurisdictions.
Additionally, a case management team supports the co-responder teams by working with individuals that need ongoing case management to connect to appropriate, community-based services. Through this RFP, Douglas County seeks a clinical provider to partner in the provision of clinical services for the Douglas County Mental Health Initiative’s (DCMHI) Community Response Teams.
