20-066 - Family Treatment Drug Court Services

The Family Treatment Drug Court Program (FTDC) provides intensive in-home child protection services to families with young children, with at least one child being aged birth to 12 years, who have come to the attention of the Department as a result of an abuse and/or neglect complaint with the primary concern of parental substance abuse.  The goal is to prevent out-of-home placement or quickly transition children from out-of-home care safely back into their homes. Parents will attend an evidence-based parenting program to include group and in-home services. Family Treatment Drug Court is designed to strengthen parental competency and protective capacity. It promotes family independence by teaching family’s skill practice, parenting techniques (feeding, bathing, child safety, non-physical discipline, calming, identifying childcare, recognizing the development stages, etc.), problem solving, anger management, conflict resolution, household management, home cleaning, and how to access community resources and support systems, etc. For families who have a child placed out of home, hands on parenting one hour a week will be provided to assess how parenting education is being applied.
 
Multisystem team meetings (Treatment Support Meetings-TSMs) will occur, in order to review and update the work plan, as well as discussions regarding engagement and progress in treatment, phase in FTDC, days of sobriety, days of compliance, review accomplishments/strengths, concerns/barriers to progress, and review individual court response as needed.
 
A 24-hour crisis intervention will be available to families in the event of a crisis.
 
The FTDC contractor should be able to meet with the family’s needs outside of traditional business hours (Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM).

     The Department anticipates a monthly client participation rate of fifty-five (55) individuals, however the Department does not guarantee any minimum or maximum number of referrals to the FTDC Program.
