17-060 - Judicial Complex Survey Consultant Services

The El Paso County Public Works Department, Facilities and Security Division (County) is seeking a qualified architectural/consulting firm to conduct a facilities space needs survey for the Fourth Judicial District complex (Complex) located at 270 South Tejon, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
 
The 4th Judicial District, servicing El Paso and Teller Counties, is one of the heaviest populated districts in the state and is in greater need of additional space. The Complex consists of a south and west tower each with one level below grade and five above.  Combined gross area equals 356,000+ sq. ft.  See attachments for the detail layouts and sizes. 
 
Currently the 4th Judicial District has 14 personnel vacancies due to lack of adequate space for these employees to conduct their work.  In addition to the immediate needs are short term future needs of space for approximately 60 additional staff.  Further analysis shows the District is short 10 Judges, hence the need for 10 additional court rooms and up to 40 new staff members.
