Description

La Plata County (Owner) and SGM (Owner’s Agent) are seeking to prequalifying Contractor(s) to provide Post-416 Fire EWP construction services for various projects to mitigate adverse debris flow impacts to existing structures and reduce threats to life. The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Owner’s Agent are working with the Owner to complete design and construction documents for debris flow mitigation projects initially identified after the fire in the Damage Survey Reports (DSR’s). These construction documents will provide designs that will:

Reduce threats to life or property;
Provide short-term protection against flooding and soil erosion protection (3-5 year design life);
Restore hydraulic capacity to historic and natural drainage facilities to pre-event conditions (where possible);
Remove sediment and debris;
Property restoration to pre-event conditions (where appropriate); and
Design measures used are economically, technically, and environmentally sound.

These projects range in size and scope. La Plata County will make every effort to group work sites in the same general area into one project; however, there is no guarantee. The types of work that will be utilized include: earthwork, drainage diversions (this includes construction of ditches, placement of sand bags and/or concrete barriers), excavation of previous flood debris, and site restoration. The Agent will make every effort to group project sites in nearby areas into one project contract package; however, there is no guarantee. Generally, the project sites are located on private property, so the Contractor will be required to execute a confidentially agreement with the Owner prior to receiving a contract package from the Agent.
