The work consists of 6.84 miles of roadway improvements on CR 70 (Owl Canyon Road) between CR 9 and CR 5 (~2 miles including the CDOT overpass) and CR 9 between CR 70 and the northeastern corner of the new Larimer County North Landfill (~4 miles). In addition to the road improvements, the CR 70/9 intersection will be improved with a rural single lane roundabout and the CR 70/7-5J intersection will be improved to realign the southern leg of CR 7 and add a center turn lane on CR 70. Three (3) single span bridges and three (3) box culverts will be replaced along the limits of the roadway improvements. Buried fiber optic conduit installations for broadband purposes are also included in this solicitation to be installed at the CR 70 and CR 9 intersection and along the CR 9 road improvements limits. Approximately 21,500 cubic yards of unclassified excavation, 6,300 cubic yards of haul and disposal, 44,000 square yards of cement treated subgrade, 58,000 tons of aggregate base course, 50,000 tons of hot mix asphalt, 4,400 square yards of concrete pavement, 3,700 linear feet of curb and gutter, 1,550 cubic yards of concrete (Class D), 316,500 pounds of epoxy coated rebar, 2,600 linear feet of driven steel piles, 7,600 square yards of prestressed concrete decking, 830 linear feet of reinforced concrete pipe, 280 linear feet of precast concrete box culvert, 2,000 linear feet of bridge rail/guardrail, 14,000 linear feet of fencing, 23,000 linear feet of buried fiber optic conduits, 12 light poles with associated buried electrical infrastructure, and construction traffic control are some of the major items included in the work. Re-striping and signage placement will be completed by Larimer County forces. Four (4) temporary detour roads are also planned to be constructed at different locations along CR 70 and CR 9 to continue two-way traffic during construction on those roadways.
