The Town is requesting proposals for Town Attorney legal services for a statutory municipality. Scope of Services as follows:
Provide general legal services (“General Legal Services”) to the Town, including but not limited to:
1. Attending regular and special meetings and work sessions of the Town Board and other board, committee and commission meetings and staff meetings as requested and scheduled, electronically or in-person;
2. Reviewing and preparing staff reports, ordinances, resolutions, agreements, contracts, deeds, leases, easements, and other routine and non-routine Town business documents;
3. Reviewing and advising Town staff on land use and historic preservation applications;
4. Advising on liquor, marijuana, hort-term rental and other licensing matters;
5. Enforcing and providing legal advice regarding enforcement of Town ordinances, zoning, and building standards through administrative or judicial proceedings;
6. Legal work pertaining to property acquisition (excluding eminent domain) and disposal, right-of-way vacations and other issues, easements, construction, and maintenance of public improvements and other real property matters;
7. Monitoring and advising the Town of new legislation and court decisions affecting municipalities;
8. Providing legal advice on personnel matters in all aspects of employment law;
9. Providing legal advice, training, and support to the Town Board, Town administrative personnel, Town departments, boards, committees, and commissions; and
10. Representing Town and/or coordinating outside legal counsel services on behalf of the Town at local, state and federal level.
11. Perform other duties as may be prescribed by the Mayor, Board of Trustees, or Town Administrator.
