Summary of Specifications:
2.1.1 The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to solicit proposals for a state of the art design/build concrete skate park for all types of use including skateboards, BMX bikes, in-line skates, and the like. This project can be a combination of poured in place concrete and precast concrete elements. All concrete elements must have smooth transitions. The site currently has an existing slab, measuring 60’ x 150’ in good condition that will need to be incorporated in the design/construction. 2.1.2 The proposed location for the skate park is 132 Jet Drive, Fort Walton Beach, Florida 32548. The skate park is also home to the city's new Recreation Complex that features 7 baseball/softball fields, 3 soccer fields, a 1-mile exercise trail, and a Recreation Building with gymnasium, racquetball courts, game room, fitness room, and program rooms. 2.1.3 The skate park should draw and engage local users to a facility that will challenge both beginners to the experienced users. The facility shall provide street and park-style elements, obstacles, and terrain. The skate park should include elements for both freestyle BMX and skateboard users. The design should include a smooth transitioning “Phase 2” when future funding becomes available. A site plan with the layout of the area to be utilized is attached.
