Description

Hernando County Utilities Department (HCUD) is made up of multiple, noncontiguous sewer service areas. The unincorporated county has numerous areas, within the defined service area, that are served by private onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems. Hernando County has been identified by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection as being in the Basin Management Action Plan for at least two (2) Outstanding Florida Springs, Weeki Wachee and Chassahowitzka. HCUD is seeking proposals from Florida-registered firms qualified to provide water utilities master planning services. The master plan (Plan) shall include analysis of potential and probable growth areas as well as projected service needs in those areas. Existing master plans and studies, and those currently underway, will be incorporated into the Plan. The Plan will incorporate the requirements of the Florida Springs and Aquifer Protection Act. The Plan will include relevant material from the Hernando County “Septic to Sewer Conversion Study.” The Plan will include updateable hydraulic models and project prioritization tables. The Plan will include analyses of aging infrastructure, based on available literature, and recommendations for infrastructure renewal and replacement as well as recommended priorities. The Plan will address biosolids, FOG and pretreatment.
