RFB-BCC 17-17 - Disposition Services for Unclaimed Deceased Persons

Summary of Specifications:
The Bidder will be responsible for providing all unclaimed indigent and unclaimed body, identification and cremation services in accordance with Florida Statutes, which shall include the following: 

1. Perform pick up and transportation services of deceased that have been released from the Okaloosa County Medical Examiner. 

2. Provide refrigerated storage of deceased bodies transferred to its possession from the place of death. 3. Perform proper disposal services on any deceased remains determined to be unclaimed. 4. Complete death certificate, permit and cremation authorization and obtain medical examiner’s authorization, and all other necessary documentation. 5. Legally dispose of the cremains. 

OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL SCOPE OF SERVICES: 

These services will be performed by the funeral home in addition to the services described above. The services below are not required to be submitted with the bid but are listed as an alternate bid. 

1. Perform search, review, and determination as to whether the unclaimed deceased is indigent or has assets to recoup the cost of disposition in accordance with Florida Statutes Chapter 406. 

2. Perform a review and determination as to whether the unclaimed is entitled to a Military burial in accordance with Florida Statutes Chapter 406. 3. Provide notification services to next of kin in accordance with Florida Statutes Chapter 406. 

The County reserves the right to include or exclude this alternate service in the proposed contract.
