Summary of Specifications:
SOLICITATION OF INSURER & INSURANCE AGENT INTEREST – Okaloosa County will be seeking competitive proposals for its October 1, 2008 group medical insurance program and is separately utilizing the services of an independent consulting firm to conduct the 2008 Request for Proposals (RFP) process.

BACKGROUND – Okaloosa County is located in northwest Florida, in the Panhandle area. The County has about 1,200 employees, retirees and COBRA persons.

The County’s medical benefits insurance program has an October 1 anniversary/renewal and it currently provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield, which began providing benefits in 2000. All but 10 employees, retirees and COBRA are in a Blue Options PPO 1749 Plan and 10 are in a Blue Options PPO 1359 Plan, which is a HDHP/HRA Plan.
