Summary of Specifications:
Okaloosa County (County hereafter) will be seeking competitive submissions for its Property/Liability/Auto/Workers Comp insurance excess insurance program with an October 1, 2010 effective date.
The program is intended to cover the Board of County Commissioners and all Constitutional Officers and for most, but not all County operations and activities. The Sheriff’s property coverage is and will continue to be purchased by the Board on his behalf, but the Sheriff will separately purchase his own liability and workers compensation coverage. The County should be covered on a contingent liability basis for the Sheriff’s operations.
This is a request for interested insurance agents, direct writing insurers and self insured trust funds (trusts) to submit their credentials and qualifications to the County for consideration during an insurance agent/insurer qualification process. Wherever herein the term “agents” is used it shall also mean brokers.
The County is likely to select one or more insurance agents, and possibly own or two direct writing insurers or trusts who will be invited to offer submissions for the County’s insurance/excess insurance program. However, the County reserves the right to select as many or as few persons or firms to market its insurance as it may desire.
Agents, insurers and trusts desiring to responds should have experience with entities the size of the County, and Florida public entity experience.
