RFP-Legal Counsel - Private Legal Counsel for Okaloosa County Value Adjustment Board

Summary of Specifications:
The Respondent awarded a contract shall provide legal counsel services for Okaloosa County Value Adjustment Board (VAB). The contract will provide for an attorney to act as legal advisor to the VAB. The attorney who contracts to provide these services will be expected to attend all meetings of the VAB and be available to advise Special Magistrates for the VAB, as well as provide advice throughout the year to VAB and the Clerk staff assigned to VAB as needed regarding procedural issues, valuation and homesteads an other matters such as the portability of homesteads. The VAB is statutorily required to have legal counsel present when it meets. In past years, before 2008 legislative changes, there were usually 2 meetings per year of the VAB (Organizational and Final), and several days of special magistrate hearings.
