Youth Advocate Programs (YAP), Inc. was founded in 1975 and is a nationally recognized nonprofit, accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA), that provides outcomes-driven and cost-effective alternatives to the institutionalization of high-risk, high-needs youth. YAP operates programs in 35 states and Washington, D.C., serving more than 19,500 individuals and their families annually across 150+ urban, suburban, and rural communities. YAP specializes in serving at-risk youth with multifaceted needs utilizing its Wraparound Advocacy service model, YAPWrap. The YAPWrap service model uses a strength-based service approach to “wrap” comprehensive individualized services and support networks “around” delinquent and or dependent youth. The YAPWrap service model also provided trauma-informed and evidence-based interventions to meet the needs of youth and families thus allowing youth to remain safely at home and in their community.
