1126638 - Electric Powered Heavy-Duty Low Floor 40' Transit Buses

The Montgomery County Bus Fleet Management Plan (BFMP) 2020 – 2030, approved by the Director, Montgomery County Department of Transportation on May 17, 2021, provides information about the current Ride On fleet, operational analysis, and planned service modifications that will affect the fleet operation. This Plan was prepared with input from the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) and the Montgomery County Department of General Services (MCDGS). The BFMP may be updated as needed to reflect changes in the County’s transit fleet procurements, policies, or services.

The County may, but is not required to, award one contract for a maximum of one hundred (100) 40-foot low floor battery-electric transit buses. Estimated timing of acquisitions is 39 buses in FY23, 16 buses in FY24 and 45 buses in FY25. The quantity of buses purchased and scheduling will be influenced by numerous factors, notably the Montgomery County Council’s approval of budget appropriations, approval by MCDOT, and approval by the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT). The County makes no guarantees of any minimum number of purchases. Unused Options may be made available to other transit properties.
