ITB-4018 - DUMPSTER REFURBISHING

Summary of Specifications:
The City of Ann Arbor is implementing a commercial waste franchise with Waste Management of Michigan (WMM) for collecting non-residential dumpsters in the City. There are approximately 290 dumpsters currently serviced by the City that will be switched over to WMM accounts starting July 1, 2009. These dumpsters are currently customer-owned. The majority of these dumpsters are six cubic yard slant top dumpsters. 

The City has done a preliminary evaluation of these dumpsters, and is procuring quotations for repairs as outlined in this document, to determine which dumpsters are cost effective to refurbish to use in the City’s expanded commercial recycling program. The selected contractor will evaluate each dumpster to determine what repairs are needed not less than 30 days before pickup, and provide that evaluation to the City. 

For those dumpsters determined to be fit for refurbishing, the City will make an offer to purchase the dumpster from the customer at a market value to be determined taking into account the refurbishing costs. Dumpsters will only be picked up if the customer has accepted the offer from the City.
