ITB-4146 - LOG JAM REMOVAL AND RIVER SIDE TREE WORK

Summary of Specifications:
The City of Ann Arbor is soliciting bids for the removal and cleanup of log and debris jams in the Huron River and the pre-emptive cutting of selected dead trees along the streambank and/or within the riparian corridor as outlined in the work plan or as directed by City staff. It includes all necessary cutting of trees and logs and removal of debris. The goal of this work is to allow for safe passage of canoes and kayaks while maintaining the ecological integrity of the river system. There are three types of work to be bid by the hour: 1) removal of the marked dead trees located on park property within the riparian corridor that are posing a risk of falling and causing future river obstructions, 2) remove the trees that have fallen in the river and are obstructing the safe passage of boats before the City of Ann Arbor Canoe Liveries open on April 16, 2011 and 3) on-call emergency removal of tree(s) that fall in the river obstructing boat passage during the canoe livery season April through October. Emergencies are identified as a sudden, unexpected occurrence demanding immediate attention, as situations occur on an on-call basis and as needed. Emergency tree removal work will be performed during daylight hours seven days a week. Contractor shall be able to begin emergency work within 4 hours of being called by the City. Work locations will be on city rights-of-way, including city parks, and in the Huron River as directed by the Contract Administer.
