Sealed proposals for the construction of the Coolidge Highway Water Main Extension project will be received by the City Clerk for the City of Berkley until 3:00 p.m., Local Time on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at which time and place all bids will be publicly opened and read.
Bidders shall review and comply with the Instructions to Bidders, which are incorporated by reference, and carefully review all Contract Documents, as defined in the Instructions to Bidders. Bids submitted after the exact time specified for, receipt will not be considered.
The Contracts will consist of the following principal items of work and appurtenances as specified herein and shown on the Contract Drawings.
Description of Work:
The project includes the extension of a 12” water distribution main along the west side of Coolidge Hwy. from immediately north of 12 Mile Rd. to Webster Rd. and westerly to connect to an existing 8” main near Kenmore Rd. The length of the project is approximately 2,700’. Approximately four (4) hydrants and eight (8) gate valves will be required. The existing section of 8” water main on the west side of Coolidge Hwy. that initiates from the valve immediately north of 12 Mile Rd. and terminates at Edwards Ave. will be capped and abandoned in place. The project also includes 12" water main extensions with gate valves on both Morrison Ave. and Edwards Ave. for possible future east/west connections in addition to sprinkler line extensions into the three (3) grass medians in Coolidge Hwy. for future irrigation plans.
Several other design parameters include the requirement to open cut and install the new 12” water main and connection along Webster Rd. and locate this main based on the existing utilities on the south side (Berkley jurisdiction) of Webster Rd. Further, the existing water main alignment is in the road and will need to be maintained, which will require pavement removal and replacement on Webster Rd.
Plans and Specifications will only be available online at the Michigan Inter-governmental Trade Network (MITN) Purchasing Group site, http://www.mitn.info beginning Monday, February 4, 2019. Hard copies of Plans and Specifications will not be available for purchase.
