Summary of Specifications:
INTRODUCTION The City of Berkley is seeking a qualified vendor to install automatic restroom door openers at the Berkley Public Library located at 3155 Coolidge in Berkley, Michigan.
BID SUBMISSION Bids on the attached “Bid Proposal Form” as well as the authorized representative form, vendor references form, non-collusive affidavit, conflict of interest disclosure form, hold harmless and indemnity form, and Iran business relationship affidavit are to be submitted electronically via the Michigan Inter-governmental Trade Network (MITN).
Time and Date: The deadline for the final receipt of bids is 11:00 a.m., local time, on Thursday, January 19, 2017. Bids will be opened at that time at 3338 Coolidge Highway, Berkley, MI 48072. Bids must be submitted via MITN. Late bids will not be opened or considered. Bids without non-collusive certificate or hold harmless will not be read or accepted.
A mandatory, pre-bid meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. The meeting will take place at the Berkley Public Library, 3155 Coolidge Hwy., Berkley, Michigan 48072.

The City of Berkley reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids and to waive any defects, informalities or irregularities in the bids, when deemed to be in the best interest of the City. The right is further reserved to accept a bid higher than the low bid, when in the opinion of the City Council, the public interest will be better served.
BIDS SHALL REMAIN OPEN TO ACCEPTANCE AND SHALL BE IRREVOCABLE FOR A PERIOD OF 90 DAYS AFTER THE BID OPENING.
SCOPE OF WORK Two automatic door openers will be added to the two public restroom doors (men’s and women’s). Openers should be commercial grade and must not provide resistance when opening without the automatic opener. The existing wooden doors will remain in place and open outward.
The opener will be activated either by the push of a button or by activating a sensor. Pricing should be provided for each approach. Wall mount push plate/surface box activator assembly to be included.
Specification sheets for the quoted equipment must be included in bid response.
Electrical work will be needed to complete this project and should be included in pricing. Permits and inspections per Michigan Electrical Code will be required. Permit and inspection fees will be waived. The vendor will provide all materials, supervision, and labor to complete this project. One year warranty on installation and products is required.
Bidders may recommend alternates for consideration in their submissions. Any alternates shall be clearly marked as alternates. Specification sheets for alternate products must be included in bid response.
The proposal shall include all items necessary to complete the work, including delivery and handling costs. A complete job is required pursuant of the terms of this contract, therefore any labor, material equipment, overhead, profits, incidental items and associate taxes not specifically mentioned, but necessary for completeness will be considered incidental to the work and no separate or additional payment will be made.
