Summary of Specifications:
The City of Birmingham in Michigan, is currently accepting sealed qualifications and proposals from a qualified Contractor. The contractor is to provide for the preparation and installation of a new Epoxy Floor. The purpose of this request is to refinish the existing apparatus floor at the Birmingham Fire Department’s Adams Station. The apparatus floor needs to withstand heavy loads and cleaning materials. The Adams Fire Station is located at 572 S. Adams, Birmingham Michigan, This document establishes essential criteria for the installation of a new epoxy floor at Adams Fire Station. This is an installation type specification and is not the intention of the Department to write out vendors, manufactures or materials used. This has only been done to establish a certain level of quality. The Department is looking for two proposals or an equivalent flooring system. The first option: The preparation of existing epoxy floor with a coating system and installation of new system. This would include a primer coat, intermediate epoxy coat and the installation of a urethane topcoat. The color is to be determined based on 2 mobilizations. The second option: The preparation of existing epoxy floor, with a coating system and the installation of new system. This would include the installation of 2 broadcasted quartz wear course coats, and the installation of a urethane clear topcoat. The quartz color would be determined based on 2 mobilizations.
During the process, the City reserves the right, where it serves the City’s best interest to request additional information or clarification from contractors, or to allow corrections of errors or omissions. At the discretion of the City, contractors submitting proposals may be requested to make oral presentation as part of the process. It is anticipated the selection of a firm will be completed by May 18, 2015. A service Agreement will be required with the selection Contractor. A copy of the Agreement is contained herein for reference (Attachment A). Contract services will commence upon execution pf the Service Agreement by the City.
