Summary of Specifications:
Sealed proposals endorsed, “Shain Park Improvement Project”, Contract # 10-09(M), Birmingham, Michigan will be received at the office of the City Clerk of the City of Birmingham, Michigan, on Friday, June 5, 2009 until 11:00 a.m. local time after which time they will be publicly opened and read.
A pre-bid meeting will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at the City Commission Room, Room 205, City Hall, 151 Martin Street, Birmingham, Michigan. Attendance is mandatory for general contract bidders.
The work will consist of the reconstruction of a two acre civic center park. Work will include but not limited to the following:
Removal and preparation for a new children’s play area. Installation of a large decorative fountain. Relocation of three large statues or monuments. Reconstruction of a City street to be paved with granite pavers, including replacement of the public water main and sanitary sewer systems. Removal and reconstruction of a City parking lot. Construction of two pergolas, one acting as a City performance stage.
Bidders are encouraged to examine the Contract Documents prior to the time of the prebid meeting. Contract Documents will be available starting on Wednesday, May 13, 2009. The Contract Documents may be examined at the following locations:

Albert Kahn Associates, Inc., Albert Kahn Building, 7430 Second Ave., Detroit, MI 48202.
Plans and specifications for the project may be obtained from the City’s Engineering Department, (248) 530-1840, located on the second floor of City Hall, for a non-refundable fee of $40.00 if picked up directly, or $50.00 if mailed. Plans and specifications may also be sent in pdf format by email or mailed on disc for $10.00. Payment shall be in the form of a check made payable to the City of Birmingham, which must be received prior to mailing of plans and specifications. Overnight delivery will be accommodated provided arrangements are made for the shipping cost to be paid through the purchaser’s account. Each proposal must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the total price of the bid, payable to: "City Treasurer - City of Birmingham”.
The successful bidder will be required to post bonds and to comply with the City Charter respecting contracts.
The City Commission reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, to waive any informality in the proposals received, and to accept any proposal which it shall deem to be most favorable to the interests of the City.
