Summary of Specifications:
The City of Birmingham is accepting sealed bids from qualified vendors for removal and application of street lane markings. The location of this project is West Maple Road between Southfield and Cranbrook Roads, in Birmingham, Michigan. The purpose of this project is to reconfigure this section of Maple road as a three lane road containing two 12 ft. wide through traffic lanes, one 12 ft. continuous left turn lane, and two 4 ft. wide shoulder areas without creating bike lanes. Upon completion of the pavement marking reconfiguration of the existing four lane traffic road, a trial period will commence to provide ample time to study traffic conditions associated with the three lane road as configured for the traffic study. Sealed bids endorsed “WEST MAPLE ROAD 3 LANE STRIPING TRIAL” will be received by the City of Birmingham, Michigan at the Office of City Clerk, 151 Martin Street, P.O. Box 3001, Birmingham, MI, 48012 until Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., at which time the bids will be publicly opened and read. The description of work quantities for all pavement markings to be removed and applied, and quantities of new and salvage signs are indicated on the attached sheets. The painting will include yellow and white (waterborne) glass beaded paint and overlay cold plastic pavement markings to meet or exceed Michigan Department of Transportation specifications. Materials and bids shall be submitted in accordance with the attached specifications and bid forms prepared by the City of Birmingham. Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope marked “WEST MAPLE ROAD 3 LANE STRIPING TRIAL”. The date and time of the bid opening must be marked on the envelope.
