ITB-fh-07-08-1416 - SELF CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS (SCBA)

Summary of Specifications:
The City of Farmington Hills Fire Department requires the purchase of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). The purpose of this specification is to provide SCBA for the firefighter that protects them against hazards encountered during fire suppression activities. All equipment provided for by this specification shall meet or exceed the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) most recent standard, Michigan Occupational safety and Health Act (MIOSHA) most recent standard and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) Standard currently in effect for respiratory protective equipment. A label shall be permanently attached indicating compliance with the NFPA standards. These specifications reference specific brands and model numbers in order to establish minimum acceptable standards. Such references are not intended to eliminate any manufacturer from the bidding process. Compliance with the “spirit of the specification” is not acceptable. Deviations shall be clearly called out in writing and explained either next to the specification or in an attachment to the bidder’s submitted proposal. Failure to follow these instructions may constitute grounds for elimination of the bidder’s proposal from consideration. Deviations may be permitted if determined to be in the best interest of the City.
