The Cities of Detroit and Ferndale, through the nonprofit 8 Mile Boulevard Association, are partnering to imrpove the conditions of the intersection and underpass of 8 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue for all who use the intersection and live near it. Bidders are invited to submit proposals to design, construct, and install improvements to the 8 and Woodward intersection that contribute to a welcoming environment for all who use the intersection, while avoiding hostile architecture and remaining cognizant of a larger effort to address the drivers of chronic homelessness that affect this intersection. Respondents are invited to assemble multidisciplinary teams to provide creative solutions to achieve this goal. Information about this project and the larger context surrounding the collaborative effort around this intersection can be found online at: https://www.ferndalemi.gov/projects/8-mile-woodward-improvement-project
The RFP was released in early September to local networks and the project team desires to now cast a wider net for potential responses to facilitate the receipt of as many creative responses as possible. We recognize the tight timeframe of this RFP and invite any bidders with questions or concerns to reach out to us.
Teams must included a licensed and insured architect that can stamp and seal all project drawings/elements.
Submittals must come electronically to operations@eightmile.org. Any team that anticipates difficulty meeting this requirement should contact Patricia Rudd, 8MBA Operations Manager, at patricia@eightmile.org.
