Summary of Specifications:
Project scope is to increase the height of the first two overhead bay doors at Ferndale Fire Headquarters located at 1635 Livernois Ave. • Bidders must be EPA Lead-Safe Certified “Renovation firms must be certified under EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule” • Remove existing overhead doors, preserving panels, motors and tracks – some parts will be retained by Ferndale Fire Rescue for repairs on the two remaining overhead doors • Construct a temporary interior wall to secure station o 2” x 4” stud covered by plywood & sealed with 6 mil visqueen to limit construction dust inside the station • Removing existing Robertson roof deck overhang over the two bay doors only – finish open ends of Robertson roof deck • Install and secure temporary supports rated to carry the existing masonry structure load above the existing steel I-beam header for both bay doors being enlarged • Remove existing I-beam & masonry, enlarging opening • Install new Steel I-beam on extended channels & weld, to support masonry above at new opening of 11’4” • Install new masonry using Belden’s brick with type “M” mortar to match existing brickwork on the new I-beam • Remove temporary supports • Remove exterior door controls – repair masonry as needed • Repair support columns, thresholds, and jambs as needed • Install two new exterior Cookson type FCM – Motor (Gear-head Horizontal) Operated service doors with safety close sensors & remote controls for each door – see Cookson Attachment o New doors and installation to be bid separately • Remove temporary wall • Clear all debris
