The City of Ferndale endeavors to update its mobility plan, Ferndale Moves, to equitably reflect current and future mobility needs of the community. The City of Ferndale adopted the Ferndale Moves plan in 2014, which set a vision for planning multimodal transportation projects, while also establishing an open, online two-way dialogue between the city and its residents. Over the last six years Ferndale Moves and the City’s Complete Streets ordinance have guided the implementation of a number of projects both within the City, as well as cross-community connections with seven neighboring communities. The City of Ferndale has implemented over 10 miles of bike lanes on nearly all the City’s major streets, improved pedestrian crossings, installed traffic calming devices, partnered with a bike share provider (MoGo), and worked with transit providers to upgrade bus shelters, as well as plan for future transit opportunities. The plans have assisted the City to be awarded over $2 million in grant funds to complete projects proposed in Ferndale Moves.
The next step, to be addressed with this RFP, is to assess current conditions, continue public engagement, and provide action-oriented recommendations that plan for the future of mobility in Ferndale.
