The Project consists of various manhole and pipe rehabilitation measures in the City of Inkster in an area generally located north of Avondale Street, south of Cherry Hill Road, east of Inkster Road. Most of the project is located within dense residential neighborhoods. Easement access is required through individual properties and, due to the challenges associated with rear yard obstacles, access to manholes is limited. Excavations and related support will be required for select assets, and as such, great care must be taken to minimize disruption. Prospective Bidders are encouraged to visit the site to formulate a plan of action for access to manholes and proposed work.
Approximately 15,500 linear feet of pipe, ranging in size from 8” to 15”, are proposed to be fully or partially lined with a cured-in-place pipe liner and an additional 2,200 linear feet of pipe is proposed to be fully lined following spot open cut repairs. Furthermore, approximately 55 manholes are proposed for structural or O&M coatings. These manholes are generally adjacent to piping in the project scope.
There will be a 1-year option at the City’s sole discretion for additional work of similar size and scope. Additional work will be similar in cost and quantity, and located in another similarly localized area within the City of Inkster. The Contractor will be informed by June 1, 2025, if the City intends to extend the contract. The contract will be quantified and provided to the Contractor prior to contract renewal, which is expected months following notice of intent to renew. Contractors are expected to hold unit prices for the option year.
