Sealed proposals for the construction of: 2018 BUILDING DEMOLITION PROGRAM will be received by the City Clerk-Treasurer’s Office in the City Hall at 120 East First Street, Monroe, Michigan 48161, until 10:00 A.M., LOCAL TIME, Wednesday the 9th day of July, 20 18. The bids will be publicly opened and read aloud by the City Clerk at 10:00 A.M., LOCAL TIME, the same day, in the Third Floor Conference Room.
The Proposal and Contract Documents, including plans and specifications, may be obtained from the Michigan Intergovernmental Trade Network (MITN) / Bid Net Direct at https://www.bidnetdirect.com/mitn. Bidders desiring a hard copy of these documents may obtain them from the Department of Engineering, 120 East First Street, Monroe, Michigan 48161 by making a deposit of THIRTY DOLLARS ($ 30.00 ) for each set of plans and specifications. IF PLANS ARE TO BE MAILED, ADD FIFTEEN DOLLARS ($15.00). No refunds will be issued for the return of any plans and specifications.
The City of Monroe reserves the right to accept any proposal, to reject any proposal or to waive defects in proposals. A bid bond or certified check made payable to the City of Monroe in the amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the bid must be deposited by each bidder with his / her bid. No bidder may withdraw his bid within SIXTY (60) days after the actual date of the opening thereof, but may withdraw it at any time prior to the scheduled closing time for receipts of bids.
This contract shall consist of work in 28 locations throughout the City of Monroe, where properties have been acquired for the purpose of building demolition. As the City continues to acquire properties, some additional work may be added to this contract upon mutual consent at negotiated prices, and the City reserves the right to eliminate individual line items due to budget constraints based on the pricing submitted. Work at most locations will include remediation of hazardous materials prior to demolition.
There will be a REQUIRED pre-bid meeting on Wednesday, June 20 at 10:00 A.M. in the Third Floor Conference Room at Monroe City Hall. As this meeting is essential to ensuring that bidders understand the full scope of the project, bids may be rejected from bidders that do not send a representative to this meeting. In addition, bidders shall provide reference information found on Page B-6 at this pre-bid meeting or separately no later than June 29 at 4:30 P.M., so that the City may evaluate the contractor’s qualifications prior to bid opening to ensure timely awarding of the contract. This pre-bid meeting will be followed by an OPTIONAL walk-through of one or more example properties with City staff.
