Sealed proposals for the construction of:
NORTH CUSTER ROAD RESURFACING
will be received by the City Clerk-Treasurer’s Office in the City Hall at 120 East First Street, Monroe, Michigan 48161, until 10:00 A.M., LOCAL TIME, Thursday the 21st day of February, 20 19. The bids will be publicly opened and read aloud by the City Clerk at 10:00 A.M., LOCAL TIME, the same day, in the City Council Chambers.
The Proposal and Contract Documents, including plans and specifications, may be obtained from the Michigan Intergovernmental Trade Network (MITN) / Bid Net Direct at https://www.bidnetdirect.com/mitn. Bidders desiring a hard copy of these documents may obtain them from the Department of Engineering, 120 East First Street, Monroe, Michigan 48161 by making a deposit of THIRTY DOLLARS ($ 30.00 ) for each set of plans and specifications. IF PLANS ARE TO BE MAILED, ADD FIFTEEN DOLLARS ($15.00). No refunds will be issued for the return of any plans and specifications.
The City of Monroe reserves the right to accept any proposal, to reject any proposal or to waive defects in proposals. A bid bond or certified check made payable to the City of Monroe in the amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the bid must be deposited by each bidder with his / her bid.
This project consists of milling and resurfacing of the top three (3) inches of pavement, along with spot replacement of curb and gutter, drive approaches, and sidewalk ramps, and other related work. The project will also incorporate significant improvements for non-motorized modes and enhanced safety, as the roadway will be converted from three (3) travel lanes to two (2) with on-street bicycle lanes in both directions. Existing pedestrian refuge islands in two (2) locations will be removed, and replaced with raised intersections and high visibility crosswalks and other pavement markings. The estimated cost of the work contemplated under this contract is approximately $710,000 in total.
Bidders shall note that Prevailing Wage provisions apply to the project and are contained within Division J of the contract.
No bidder may withdraw his bid within SIXTY (60) days after the actual date of the opening thereof, but may withdraw it at any time prior to the scheduled closing time for receipts of bids.
