Summary of Specifications:
Sealed proposals for the construction of: VESTIBULE EXTERIOR IMPROVEMENTS FOR DORSCH MEMORIAL PUBLIC LIBRARY will be received by the City Clerk-Treasurer’s Office in the City Hall at 120 East First Street, Monroe, Michigan 48161, until 10:00 A.M., LOCAL TIME, Monday the 22nd day of May, 20 17. The bids will be publicly opened and read aloud by the City Clerk at 10:00 A.M., LOCAL TIME, the same day, in the City Council Chambers. All work described and contained within the Plans and Specifications herein shall be paid on a lump sum basis. The project consists of the renovation of the vestibule on the northeast elevation. The scope of work will include the removal of the existing vestibule walls with the roof remaining. New walls are to be constructed using PVC based trim to better weather the elements. The Proposal and Contract Documents, including plans and specifications, may be obtained from the Michigan Intergovernmental Trade Network (MITN) at http://www.mitn.info. Bidders desiring a hard copy of these documents may obtain them from the Department of Engineering, 120 East First Street, Monroe, Michigan 48161 by making a deposit of FIFTY DOLLARS ($ 50.00 ) for each set of plans and specifications. IF PLANS ARE TO BE MAILED, ADD FIFTEEN DOLLARS ($15.00). No refunds will be issued for the return of any plans and specifications. The City of Monroe reserves the right to accept any proposal, to reject any proposal or to waive defects in proposals. A bid bond or certified check made payable to the City of Monroe in the amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the bid must be deposited by each bidder with his bid. Bidders shall note that Prevailing Wage provisions apply to this contract, even though the costs of the work may not necessarily exceed $50,000, and are contained within Division J of the contract. In addition, since this work is being funded through the City’s allocation of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, additional Federal provisions will also apply as detailed in Division L of the contract and the Appendix. No bidder may withdraw his bid within SIXTY (60) days after the actual date of the opening thereof, but may withdraw it at any time prior to the scheduled closing time for receipts of bids.
