Summary of Specifications:
This project involves the rehabilitation of various elements of the bridge superstructure including partial deck reconstruction, deep overlay, epoxy overlay and deck patching, construction of new bridge railing, pedestrian fence, installation of lighting standards and deck platforms, partial expansion joint replacement, and approach reconstruction. The bridge may be closed to all traffic for the duration of the project. The Engineer’s Estimate is approximately $1,550,000. The Proposal and Contract Documents, including plans and specifications, may be obtained from the Michigan Intergovernmental Trade Network (MITN) at http://www.mitn.info. Bidders desiring a hard copy of these documents may obtain them from the Department of Engineering, 120 East First Street, Monroe, Michigan 48161 by making a deposit of ONE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($ 150.00 ) for each set of plans and specifications. IF PLANS ARE TO BE MAILED, ADD TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS ($25.00). No refunds will be issued for the return of any plans and specifications. The City of Monroe reserves the right to accept any proposal, to reject any proposal or to waive defects in proposals. A bid bond or certified check made payable to the City of Monroe in the amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the bid must be deposited by each bidder with his / her bid. Due to the complexity of this project and the desire of the City of Monroe to solicit bids from only qualified bidders, only bidders with a prequalification through the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) of category “Fa” will be considered for award. A REQUIRED Pre-Bid meeting will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. at Monroe City Hall. Bidders shall note that Prevailing Wage provisions apply to this work, and are contained within Division J of the contract, with required wage rates listed in the appendix. No bidder may withdraw his bid within SIXTY (60) days after the actual date of the opening thereof, but may withdraw it at any time prior to the scheduled closing time for receipts of bids.
