Summary of Specifications:
Sealed proposals for the 2013 Fire Hydrant Blasting & Repainting Project, M-561, will be received by the Oak Park City Clerk at the City Hall, 13600 Oak Park Blvd., Oak Park, MI 48237, until 10:00 AM, local time, Thursday, May 9, 2013, at which time and place they will be publicly opened and read aloud. The project consists sandblasting and repainting of 130 fire hydrants located within the City of Oak Park. Hand wash with detergent each hydrant prior to sand blasting. Abrasive blast clean to a SP6 commercial finish with containment. Apply a three (3) coat acrylic with zinc primer Note to contractor: Remove dirt 2 inches around each hydrant, surface prepare, blast or spot power tool clean, paint, then replace the sod. All spent abrasive and paint chips must be vacuumed prior to prime coat application. Please note that the flange of each hydrant will be painted color different from the hydrant body. Check all hydrants after painting to verify that chains, swivels, and caps are loose. Furnish type C flashing arrow board and comply with all traffic control according to MDOT, temporary traffic control requirements. The contractor understands that the term of this contract is for twelve (12) months, with an option to extend for an additional twelve (12) months, if mutually agreed to by the parties. The City shall have the right to not extend this contract for any reason or for no reason at all. The dates for completing the above mentioned work, as set forth in the contract, must be adhered to by the contractor, and any additional work will be scheduled by mutual agreement between the parties. The City of Oak Park anticipates the following schedule for awarding the Contract and starting work: Notice of Award Tuesday, May 21, 2013 Start Construction Monday, June 10, 2013 Substantial Completion of all Construction Friday, July 5, 2013 Final Completion Friday, July 19, 2013 Should the Notice of award be delayed beyond Tuesday, May 21, 2013, then the date shown for Completion of Construction shall be extended by the same number of days that the Notice to Proceed is delayed past Tuesday, May 21, 2013.
