Notice to contractors:
Sealed proposals will be received by the finance department (City Hall, room 301) of the City of Royal Oak, Michigan, up to 10:00 a.m., local time, Monday August 20, 2018, at which time all proposals will be publicly opened and read aloud for the “44th District Court Exterior Improvements” project. The work shall consist of furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, and incidental items, including but not limited to the following major items of work:
· Removal and replacement of concrete ramp
· Discrete concrete sectional repairs on walkways
· Concrete sealant repairs around hand rails
· Clean and paint guardrail / handrail and post systems
The drawings and specifications under which the work is to be done may be examined at the Office of the City Engineer, City Hall, 211 Williams Street, Royal Oak, Michigan 48067, on or after 12:00 p.m.
Monday August 6, 2018. Copies may be obtained for a non-refundable cost of $25.00. Plans and specifications cannot be mailed. The City of Royal Oak Engineering Division holds counter hours Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Plans and specifications will also be available on Monday August 6, 2018 at the website of the Michigan Intergovernmental Trade Network (MITN) https://www.bidnetdirect.com/mitn. MITN requires a fee for subscribing to this service.
Each proposal must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond by a recognized surety
company in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid amount, payable to the City of Royal Oak as security for the acceptance of the Contract. No bidder may withdraw his proposal between the date set for the opening thereof and the date upon which the Contract is awarded.
The city reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and the right to waive defects in proposals.

Special Notes:
1. Contractor to coordinate public ramp replacement with court schedule. If public ramp is out of service during court hours, a temporary ramp shall be provided to maintain ADA access.
2. Contract to photograph and document all existing conditions and provide submit report to owner before any work to be done. Documentation should show all conditions around area of work, including concrete, railings, masonry walls, and doors.
3. Highly recommended walkthrough of project will take place on Thursday August 9, 2018 at 9:00 am. Meet in room 309 of city hall.
4. Liquidated damages - $1,000.00 per day after substantial completion date.
