Downtown Park
The goal of this project is to develop a regional, world-class downtown destination that enhances the park’s natural features. The selected firm will assist in designing the features and amenities to create an environmental, sustainable, unique and innovative park experience. It is a blank slate when it comes to park concepts and ideas. The city is looking for recommendations that will make this park a central gathering spot for the Royal Oak downtown area. The downtown park area is roughly 113,645.5 square feet which gives us about 2.6 acres.
A key component for implementing this design program successfully is the collaborative development of a strategic plan that utilizes an innovative approach. Some opportunities may include engaging volunteers, city stewardship programs, non-profit organizations and other partnership opportunities to efficiently construct features of the park plan. Additionally, qualified candidates must be able to assist the city in hosting no less than one citizen engagement meeting to solicit and incorporate resident feedback into the overall design of the park project.
In the public engagement conducted for Downtown Park, please reference the city’s recently submitted parks and recreation master plan available on the city website.
