The Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Southgate, Michigan desires to replace an existing
playground structure located at Kiwanis Park at the corner of Leroy Street and Trenton Road. The
proposed playground area is approximately 65’ by 75’ in size with a 12”x12” concrete curb boarder and
engineered wood fiber surfacing. Area shall provide 4” drain tile, 4 “ pea stone base with geotextile
fabric between the pea stone and engineered wood fiber. The design should be stock and custom design elements with a train and natural themes. The proposed equipment is to be scheduled for installation in July of 2019 for an August 1st Grand Opening. The City is seeking proposals in response to this Request for Proposals (RFP) from qualified recreation equipment design/build firm or team (Contractor) to produce a conceptual design, final design and construction documents and construction of a nonsupervised public park not to exceed $300,000 in total budget.
Suppliers should base their playground equipment designs on meeting all accessibility and safety
standards as well as the guidelines & specifications listed in this RFP. Quality of equipment components, quality of design, play value, cost, and appropriateness to location and target demographic must be taken into consideration in the design of the play system
