RFQ-RM-2021-03-12-001 - CDBG Emergency Sewer Tap and Raiser

The City of Taylor is soliciting bids for CDBG Residential Sewer Lead. This is a Federally Funded construction project and is subject to compliance with all applicable Federal Labor Standards, but is exempt from Davis Bacon Act. A performance bond in the amount of 100% of the bid amount shall be required upon execution of the contract and prior to beginning work.

8241 Jackson St Case 2021-04
Sewer System:

• Hennessey Engineers have inspected the house at 8241 Jackson Street and recommend the following actions: The existing sewer has been attempted to be cleaned and televised unsuccessfully due to water in the pipe. A root cutting auger has been run through the pipe from the exterior of the house to an approximate distance of 75’ which is where the approximate location of the existing sewer tap. This attempt was unable to relieve the water in the pipe so additional work will be required.
• It is our recommendation that the entire tap and riser be removed and replaced through open cut construction. The yard poses some challenges that will require coordination with DTE for the temporary relocation of guy wires or other means of support for an existing pole in the rear yard.
• Previously a sleeve system was installed and is assumed to extend from the house to the riser but needs to be inspected and televised upon completion of the tap and riser replacement. Any necessary repairs are to be documented and submitted to the City of Taylor for review and authorization for additional repairs.
• Contractor to provide a 1-year warranty in case of settlement
