For the purpose of for providing outpatient tuberculosis clinical care and pharmaceutical services to those within the Health, Veterans, and Community Wellness Department’s jurisdiction which is Wayne County excluding the City of Detroit.
Under the Michigan Public Health Code, Act 368 of 1978, a local health department is required to provide outpatient tuberculosis services.
In accordance with the Michigan Public Health Code, the Wayne County Department of Health, Veterans, and Community Wellness Department, through its Wellness Division is responsible for providing outpatient tuberculosis clinical care and pharmaceutical services to those within the Health, Veterans, and Community Wellness Department’s jurisdiction which is Wayne County excluding the City of Detroit.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services contractual stipulations for tuberculosis clinical care require that a medical provider who is a specialist in tuberculosis oversee the program.
The physical outpatient clinic where the outpatient tuberculosis services are provided must be constructed to the Health, Veterans, and Community Wellness Department specifications, including having a negative air pressure HVAC system for the clinic where the patients with contagious tuberculosis will be treated.
To facilitate the public health nurses picking up pharmaceutical medications, and consulting with the medical provider who is overseeing the program, the physical outpatient clinic where the outpatient tuberculosis services are provided must be located within 15 miles of the main health department offices, 33030 Van Born Road, Wayne, MI.
The term of the resultant contract shall be for a period of three (3) years from the date of award, with one (1) additional three (3) year extension option, which may be exercised at the discretion of Wayne County. It is anticipated that the start date will be April 1, 2020.
