2023-035 - Recusal Judge

General Information.  The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians (GTB) Tribal   Court is soliciting contractual-service proposals for a Recusal Judge to preside over any case   within the Tribal Court, for one (1) year (FY'2024), (effective on Oct. 1, 2023 and end on Sept.  30, 2024).  One (1) Recusal Judge will be selected to enter into a contract to serve as the presiding Judge, where a conflict of interest may exist or arise, in any Tribal Court case, within the Tribe’s jurisdiction.  The Tribal Court is a Court of general jurisdiction; therefore, the Recusal Judge must be familiar with any Tribal laws, Federal and State of Michigan laws governing all areas of law, that may be presented in a variety of cases, such as criminal, child-in-need-of-care, family matters, ICWA matters, probate, civil – all areas.
