The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to procure proposals for professional athletic training services to enhance the health, safety, and performance of our student-athletes. The National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) recommends an athlete-to-athletic trainer ratio of 50:1 to ensure proper care and injury prevention. Currently, GRCC Athletics serves 193 student-athletes with only 1 full time and 1 part time athletic trainer, which falls well below this recommended standard.
In addition, current industry trends indicate a shift toward full-time employment for certified athletic trainers, as institutions recognize the importance of continuity in care, athlete safety, and injury management. The athletic training profession is also experiencing a shortage of certified professionals willing to work in part-time positions with insufficient pay, making it increasingly difficult to attract and retain qualified staff under these conditions.
To align with best practices and address these challenges, GRCC Athletics seeks proposals from qualified providers who can offer dedicated, full-time assistant athletic training services for the duration of our athletic seasons (August-April). Our goal is to ensure comprehensive athlete care, meet industry standards, and support the long-term success of our athletic programs.
