2023-004 - Flat Rock-Huroc Dam Removal Feasibility Study

Proposals are being solicited for the development of a feasibility study on selective fish passage to minimize sea lamprey infestation risks in the potential alternatives, to include dam removal options for the Flat Rock Dam and Huroc Dam located in the Huron River in Flat Rock, Michigan, near Oakwoods Metropark. This project addresses the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) Action Plan III goal to protect and restore communities of native aquatic and terrestrial species important to the Great Lakes by increasing the connectivity of habitats that support important Great Lakes aquatic species, namely through a development of feasibility study to explore alternatives to increase fish passage at the two lowermost barriers on the Huron River while ensuring effective sea lamprey control, and to develop preliminary engineering design of selected method.
