JATA has been serving the Jackson area for more than 50 years. It was initially formed through a partnership between the Chamber of Commerce and local merchants after a private transportation provider discontinued service in the area. From there it grew, gained new funding sources, and became an authority under Michigan’s Public Act 196 in 1986. Today, JATA operates nine fixed-routes in the Jackson urbanized area and provides demand response service throughout both urban and rural Jackson County. In total, JATA provides about 500,000 trips annually.
JATA’s network consists of equipment at two primary facilities. Servers of various ages and operating systems exist in both physical and virtual environments, with PCs, firewalls, shared printers, and routers. JATA currently outsources its IT Management Services.
The Organization experienced a significant network & data breach in November of 2023
JATA seeks a managed service provider with depth and experience to manage the current IT network and to assist in the development of short and long-term plans, specifications, and budgets for network equipment replacement. JATA seeks proposals that address and provide ongoing, proactive support of the local area network and back-up appliances and services. JATA seeks proposals that include Chief Information Officer (CIO) functions to assist the current staff to make determinations based upon their experience and recommendations.
