Summary of Specifications:
The project consists of all necessary prep to perform the indicated work in the following areas:
TOWER 1) Replacement of the galvanized domestic cold water and hot water piping. a) Removal and reinstallation and removal and replacement of portions of the existing acoustic and gypsum board ceilings at the first floor. Work shall be done on 2nd shift. b) Removal and replacement of portions of cement plaster ceilings on the 11th floor. c) Removal of existing cold water pressure booster pumps and installation of new pressure booster pumps. 2) Removal and replacement of mechanical units on the 12th floor/roof level. a) Replacement of the BUR on the 12th floor/roof level. b) Roof height renovations (metal deck) associated with the new roof top units. c) Extension of the masonry parapet around the 12th floor/roof level. d) Relocation and extension of the existing metal panel screen wall around the roof top units. 3) Revisions to the mechanical exhaust system for the housing unit showers throughout the tower. a) SGFT removal for new access doors on the existing walls of the mechanical chase in the dayrooms. 4) Preparation and painting of existing concrete floors, stairs, railings, HM doors and frames, security doors and frames and CMU surfaces throughout the housing units. 5) Removal of existing boiler flue from the basement to the roof and installation of new gypsum board shaftliner associated with this work in existing storage rooms. 6) Installation of a snow melting system for the Booking entrance. a) Removal and replacement of the existing exterior concrete slab/ramp entry to Booking. b) Prep and painting of the existing interior concrete slab. c) Installation of new trench drains at the exterior and interior of the booking area. d) Removal of the existing snow melt system and installation of the new snow melt system. e) Installation of a new boiler, creation of a new boiler room and associated pumps and piping for the snow melt system. 7) Removal of existing steam boilers and installation of a new hot water boilers in the basement area with associated pumps and piping. a) Masonry revisions and new HM doors and frames required to install new boilers. b) Prep and painting of portions of the boiler room.
D BLOCK WING 1) Removal and replacement of a portion of the existing BUR system 2) Removal of the existing and installation of a new mechanical roof top unit and exhaust fans with associated roofing and structural work.
MAXIMUM SECURITY WING 1) Removal of the existing and installation of a new mechanical roof top unit and exhaust fans with associated roofing and structural work. 2) Work in the basement mechanical room and adjacent rooms for replacement of Steam heating system as fed from the Tower basement Boiler Room.
REHAB 1) Fire Sprinkler extension from the Tower Lobby a) Removal and reinstallation of the existing concealed spline system and extension of sprinkler system (work shall be done on 2nd shift). b) Removal of existing non rated security doors and frames with installation of new rated security doors and frames with reuse of existing hardware to create a fire separation between the Tower and non sprinklered portions of the Rehab wing. 2) Replacement of domestic galvanized cold water piping and hot water piping. (work shall be done on 2nd shift).
Construction shall be scheduled in two phases :
PHASE ONE: Phase one construction scope of the work includes completion of all ARCHITECTURAL, MECHANICAL, and ELECTRICAL scope of the work as shown on the drawings, and as specified in the specification book by SEPTEMBER 30, 2014, for the following projects : 1) Water: a) Replacing galvanized domestic cold and hot water pipes at first floor ceiling, and installation of new copper pipes. b) Replacing galvanized domestic cold water serving Tower upper four floors and installation of new copper pipes. c) Replacing existing cold water pressure booster pumps, and installation of new pressure booster pumps, and connection to new cold water pipes. 2) Installation of roof top units, and all associated work for ( MS ), and ( D ) blocks. 3) Installation of the snow melting system , and all associated work for the receiving ramp. 4) Revisions to the jail tower shower rooms exhaust system, and all associated work. 5) Installation of roof top units for the jail tower, and all associated work. PHASE TWO: Phase two construction scope of the work includes completion of all ARCHITECTURAL, MECHANICAL, and ELECTRICAL scope of the work as shown on the drawings, and as specified in the specification book by SEPTEMBER 15, 2015 for the following project : 1) Replacement of the steam heating with hot water system in the Tower Boiler Room, and Maximum Security Wing Mechanical Room and adjacent spaces, including all associated work.
