Summary of Specifications:
BACKGROUND: The technology infrastructure at MTA is critical to providing safe, efficient and reliable public transportation. Many technologies and systems have been implemented at MTA in the past five years. We need to assess how effective the systems are at meeting today’s increased demand as well as plan for future updates of the systems such as ITS changes involving alternative fuels and vehicles. Many of Genesee County residents utilize the systems directly to arrange Para-transit rides, check availability of transportation services, review ride schedules or to communicate with MTA staff. This project would review the capabilities of the current ITS systems. The assessment would also help to identify current and potential problem areas and to provide plans for addressing them. The benefits of this project will be the potential to address technology limitations, increase effectiveness and efficiency of operations and provide more reliable technology infrastructure. The beneficiaries will be all those who use Mass Transportation Authority services for business or personal travel. SUMMARY: The Mass Transportation Authority (MTA) in Flint, Michigan is issuing this Request for Proposals (RFP) to procure Information Technology consulting, planning and technical services for the Technology Assessment Project (TAP). The selected vendor would work with the MTA ITS Department to assess key areas of the technology implemented at the Mass Transportation Authority (MTA) and provide planning for technological infrastructure improvements to enhance the MTA’s ability to provide reliable, secure, effective and efficient transportation. The objective of this solicitation is to enable MTA to procure these services in a timely and economical manner.
