Oakland Schools is requesting proposals for Benefit Consulting services. The awarded bidder will provide services associated with the administration of Oakland Schools’ medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, short and long term disability programs, wellbeing program, ancillary voluntary benefit plans as well as Section 125 FSAs, Health Savings Accounts, COBRA, HIPAA and PPACA.
The contractor services will include, but are not limited to, ensuring compliance with state and local regulations and legislation, providing detailed analysis of current coverage to identify solutions that will increase cost effectiveness and savings, and assisting with employee communications during open enrollment and throughout the year. Current insurance providers and third party administrators include BCBSM, MESSA, Blue Care Network, BASIC, HealthEquity, Mutual of Omaha, Ulliance, MetLaw and Nationwide Pet Insurance.
Oakland Schools is an intermediate school district that acts as a service agency to all public schools in Oakland County. Currently, the Human Resources department administers benefits to approximately 150 union and 450 non-union staff covered under two separate health care plans and co-premium structures.
