The 25-foot deep, 7,100-foot long, 60-inch diameter Jefferson Relief Sewer is proposed to be tunneled in place under the southbound lane of Jefferson Avenue with limited open-cut construction as necessary for structure construction, utility relocation, and sewer connections. This relief sewer is to parallel and provide additional capacity for the existing 60-inch diameter Jefferson Interceptor Sewer along the northbound lane of Jefferson Avenue. Structures will be constructed at 9 Mile Road as well as Bon Heur Street to connect to the existing upstream and downstream sewers. Intermediate structures were determined based on existing side street lateral sewer conflicts and tunnel construction length limits. The Project includes the following Work:
•80 feet 48" Sanitary Sewer, Jack in Place
•6.900 feet 60" Sanitary Sewer, Tunneling
•175 feet 60" Sanitary Sewer, Open Cut
•8 Tunnel Launching / Receiving Shafts
•5 Sanitary Chambers
•7 Lateral Sewer Connections
•450 feet of 12", 15", and 18" Sewer
•Martin Regulator Improvements
•Maintenance of Traffic
•Tunneling new 48” and 60” Interceptor
•Open cut 10”, 12” and 60” Sanitary Sewers
