RFP-6354 - Transportation Services for the ETCS Foster Grandparent Program

Summary of Specifications:
Washtenaw County is accepting bids for transportation services for the ETCS Foster Grandparent Program. All riders live in the Ypsilanti area and will be transported between their homes and their work assignments. The Foster Grandparents are sixty years of age or above. A few riders require assistive devices to aid mobility. This is a grant funded community service program. Cost containment , through efficient planning and service are essential. It is anticipated that there will be 1,000-2,000 rides per year. It is estimated that there will be 5-10 riders to and from sites four (4) days per week. Approximately ten (10) times per year riders will travel to and from a different destination. 

The number of transports may vary from month to month depending on the needs of the Program. The contract term for this bid is from October 1, 2007 to September 30, 2009. 

It is expected that Washtenaw County ETCS Program riders will be picked up and dropped off at the scheduled times. Drop-offs will be as close to the entrance of the destination building as possible. 

Each transportation vehicle must have a communication radio or a device to communicate with a home base station. It is expected that the most direct route and the most cost effective coordination of rides will be utilized. 

All vehicles used in the transportation must meet all state and federal requirements. Vehicles are to be clean and safe. A smoke-free environment is required during transport.
