10062017 - Household Hazardous Waste Collection, Electroncis Recycling and Secure Document

The Charter Township of West Bloomfield has been operating two collection events (spring and fall) for household hazardous waste materials, electronics recycling, and secure document destruction for many years.  The township is accepting proposals for a “Lead Contractor” to facilitate the staffing, segregating, packing, transportation and disposal of the above mentioned items.
 
Over the last two years, the township has serviced approximately 5,749 vehicles (3,266 in 2016 and 2,483 in 2015).  The collection events collected over 287,710.00 pounds of hazardous waste material (160,404 in 2016 and 127,306 in 2015) and 227,079 pounds of electronics (127,079 in 2016 and approx. 100,000 in 2015). In addition, 2,072 residents dropped off shredding (953 in the spring 2016, 1119 in 2015) The township anticipates an equal or greater level of participation during the term of this contract.  The event dates for 2018 have been tentatively selected and are as follows:  Spring – April 20/21; Fall – September 28/29.
