12R2-2020 - 12R2-2020 Customer Side Water Service Replacement Project

The project scope consists of the replacement of approximately 15 galvanized water services with ¾”
K copper, exclusively on the customer side, from the curb stop to the water meter located in the
residence. Two (2) ¼ turn ball valves must be installed, one (1) on each side of the water meter. Ball
valves must be of brass or bronze NSF compliant housing with stainless steel ball or equivalent with
prior approval of the Borough of Alpha. Foundation penetration must be “sleeved” with hydraulic
cement between sleeve and foundation and expandable foam between sleeve and service line.
Grounding wire must be installed across meter spread. All work must conform to all applicable
plumbing codes.

SCOPE
Excavate to expose cross on existing 6” DIP main.  Remove end cap and thrust block from northern side of cross, and run 6” main north to Alpha St pump as depicted.  Reinstall supplied fire hydrant as depicted.
In paved areas, compaction of the trench will be in six (6) inch lifts.  Five (5) inches of base asphalt in two lifts.  No top.
In grass areas, spoils may be backfilled into trench in 6” lifts.  No topsoil or seed restoration.

Proper disposal of all spoils/waste is the sole responsibility of the contractor.
