The scope of work for the College Avenue Pump Station, Storm System Upgrades project is summarized as
follows:
1. Storm Sewer Forcemain Extension:
1A. Extend existing 10” stormwater force main with a new 12” HDPE force main approximately 261 LF (140
LF directionally bored under concrete truck loading dock area) east toward the railroad property line.
1B. Connect the new force main extension to an existing 36” CMP storm sewer with a new precast concrete 6’
diameter manhole.
2. Gravity Storm Sewer Modifications:
2A. Replace the existing 3’ diameter stormwater manhole on the east side of College Ave with a new 5’
diameter manhole. Plug the existing 36” storm sewer that flows east under the Hilliard building.
2B. Reroute the existing 24” inlet sewer 69 LF to the south, connect the new 24” sewer with an existing 18”
storm sewer in a new 6’ diameter manhole.
2C. Remove the existing 18” storm sewer entering the stormwater pump station wetwell and install (7 LF) of
new 30” storm sewer into the stormwater pump station wetwell.
3. Repairs / Upgrades to the Storm Pump System:
3A. Plug the 12” sanitary sewer overflow pipe leaving the sanitary sewer manhole in College Ave with a
mechanical pipe plug.
3B. Pump out and clean the stormwater wetwell.
3C. Test the storm pump 10” suction pipe with a low pressure/vacuum air test. There is a suspected leak in
the lowest flanged pipe section. Repair leak with a new flanged pipe section or stainless steel repair
coupling.
3D. Install a VFD drive for the existing 25 hp, 240V, 3 phase storm pump.
3E. Remove existing 25hp storm pump motor and replace with a new 25hp motor (refer to Appendix B).
Items 3F through 3I shall be performed by the pump manufacturer’s equipment representative, Siewert
Equipment Co. (Rochester, NY), (585) 482-9640. Item 3E shall be supplied by Siewert Equipment Co. but
installed by the Contractor.
3F. Repair or replace the damaged suction gauge connection to the suction pipe.
3G. Perform preventative maintenance service on the storm pump to include: changing oil, checking and
setting clearances, taking and recording gauge and meter data and provide a written report.
3H. Inspect the rotating assembly, wear plate and make recommendations on when a replacement is advised.
3I. Inspect and test the level transducer/level controller operation (currently the digital level bounces erratically).
