The City of Albany (hereinafter referred to as the “CITY”) hereby requests Proposals from qualified firms or individuals to provide Streetscape Design and Construction Phase services on an as-needed and non-exclusive basis. 1.2 The City of Albany Strategic Investment Plan prepared through the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI), identified a series of streetscape improvements along Clinton and Livingston Avenues and Columbia Street with the goal of enhancing the visual appeal, function, and safety of the surrounding neighborhoods. 1.3 As conceived in the DRI, the Clinton Avenue Streetscape Improvement Project includes the design and construction of streetscape and pedestrian safety enhancements from Broadway to North Hawk Street. More specifically, desired improvements feature a neighborhood gateway element at the intersection of Broadway and Clinton Avenue, sidewalk and bicycle facility improvements, pedestrian lighting enhancements, tree planting and landscaping, new pedestrian traffic signals, street furniture, trash receptacles, and other potential infrastructure improvements. Refer to the City of Albany Strategic Investment Plan for additional information. 1.4 Anticipated revitalization benefits include: · Enhanced visual appearance of an important roadway corridor. · Improved safety for pedestrians and bicyclists. 3 · Supporting and complimenting ongoing private investments, including the recently completed renovation of 70 buildings containing 210 residential units along a 1.1 mile stretch of Clinton Avenue between Henry Johnson Boulevard and the Palace Theater.
